Wedding Goodies: Breast Cancer Awareness Edition

Share
I’m sure you know this already, but October is Breast Cancer Awareness month (between the pink football gear and all of the pink products and ribbons everywhere you turn, you’d have to be living under a rock to miss it, right?).

Pink Satin Bridal BowWhat you might not think about is the fact that it’s possible to purchase incredible items for your wedding while simultaneously supporting this worthy cause. You’re doing an awful lot of shopping anyway, why not give back a little bit while you do so?

Pink Pretties

Since the breast cancer ribbon is pink, there are an awful lot of pretty pink pieces out there that contribute to the cause. Soft and feminine, this color is perfect for romance!

I love the sweet elegance of the Satin Bridal Bow made by Bethany Lorelle. This pretty bow is custom made and can be produced in just about any color your little heart desires Pink Satin Flower(although I’m really loving the antique pink, shown here). Accented with French netting and a vintage-style rhinestone rose, the charm of this piece of undeniable. During the month of October, ten percent of what you pay will be donated to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

Another pretty pink piece by Bethany Lorelle that contributes to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Satin Flower Brooch/ Hair Clip. I love the versatility of this piece, which goes so well with the aforementioned bow. You Breast Cancer Pomandercould pin it to your dress or sash or you could have your girls wear it in their hair or on their dresses. You could even use it to add a little something extra to an otherwise boring clutch. I love pieces that have lots of potential for use after your wedding and this piece definitely falls into that category.

For your flower girl (who would also look pretty darn cute in that pink flower), the “Pink with a Purpose” moss pomander made by My Haley Girl is an adorable option. This piece consists of a reindeer moss pomander adorned with blossoms in a variety of shades of pink. The “handle” is a pink piece of ribbon with a breast cancer ribbon on the backside. It’s a great way to honor loved ones who are fighting or who have lost the battle with breast cancer. A portion of the proceeds are donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.Pink Pearl Bracelet

This next piece is not only beautiful in its own right, but it has a powerful story behind it. Its creator (Ames of Adorn by Amy Singley) found beading while battling breast cancer eight years ago. It became an outlet for her during chemotherapy and she says she made this bracelet “to honor [her] sisters surviving this disease and those who want to show their awareness and support to the cause.”

Made with gorgeous soft pink Swarovski glass pearls and crystals, this beauty is Baroque for Boobsfinished with a sterling silver toggle clasp and a sterling breast cancer ribbon. Twenty percent of the money you spend on this piece will be donated to the American Cancer Society through Etsy Project Embrace, a coalition of Etsy artists from all over the world who strive to raise awareness and money for the fight against cancer. You can find thousands of handmade pieces from Etsy Project Embrace artists for sale here and help contribute to the more than $14,000 this wonderful group has raised so far.

Another piece that is as beautiful as it is giving is the Baroque for Boobs crystal necklace (you have to love that name, don’t you?!) by dkjewels. The focal piece of this beauty is a stunning baroque light rose pink Swarovski crystal. The cut and light that comes from this gorgeous crystal are just breathtaking. It’s wire wrapped and hung from an antiqued brass chain that complements the pink color in an unexpectedly beautiful way. One-third of the sale price will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.Aqua and Pearl Earrings

Non-Pink Pretties

Now, some ladies just don’t do pink. Whether it doesn’t go with your color palette or the color makes you shudder, I’m happy to report that you can still support breast cancer charities without going pink.

Vivanne Designs is donating thirty percent of all sales in October to breast cancer research. That includes these Olive Green Necklacegorgeous aqua quartz and freshwater pearl earrings. I love the effect of the pretty pearl clusters next to the pop of aqua. It will give your look a nice shot of color while remaining subdued and elegant.

Lisa D Jewelry also makes a gorgeous non-pink piece. This pretty olive green necklace is accented with gold-filled wire and a (somewhat unexpected) gold-filled ball chain. The green and gold work flawlessly together to create a look that’s absolutely perfect to fall. Five percent of this and all pieces sold from this shop and its sister shop, Blue Marlin, are donated to the American Cancer Society through Etsy Project Embrace.

Gifts/FavorsBodachious Apple

There are also plenty of gifts and favors you can purchase that give a portion of their proceeds to cancer charities.

Lollipops Sugar Shoppe makes an absolutely beautiful Race for the Cure Breast Cancer Awareness Bodachious Apple. What is a Bodachious Apple, you ask? Well, this one is a granny smith apple coated with handmade buttery kettle caramel, dipped in milk or white chocolate (twice) and rolled in vanilla cake bits and sprinkles. Tell me your mouth isn’t watering!

As if the yummy factor wasn’t enough, 25% of the proceeds will be donated to the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer. This would look awfully pretty sitting on your guests’ plates come dinnertime, wouldn’t it?

Double Love ScrubThere are also plenty of great (and charitable!) gift ideas for your bridesmaids. I for one have been dying to try Double Love Lavender & Shea Butter Body Scrub by Spa Goddess (hint, hint to anyone looking for gift ideas for me this holiday season Wink). This scrub uses a blend of lavenders from all over the world for a luxurious, relaxing smell. It also uses Dead Sea salt and shea butter enriched with blueberry, cranberry and calendula. Combined these fabulous ingredients will leave your skin smooth, supple and radiant! Check out the link above for glowing reviews of this product from very happy customers.

After indulging in a little Organic Facial Padsrelaxation with an awesome body scrub, the only thing that could make me happier is knowing that I was contributing to an awesome cause while using it. Spa Goddess donates ten percent of sales to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. I think this would make an awesome gift for your sure-to-be exhausted bridesmaids!

Another gift that would work well with the scrub above are these Pure Bliss facial pads by Easy Baby. Hand crocheted with organic cotton, these pretty pads are gentle enough to use on a newborn baby, yet they also provide soft exfoliation. This is another product I’m dying to try and it would be perfect for a little pampering kit for your girls. The best part? All of the profits are donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure through Etsy Project Embrace.
