Have you noticed that cupcakes are in right now? Whether in lieu of a big wedding cake, or served as a type of dessert-appetizer, cupcakes are having their moment in the wedding spotlight. In or out, give me a cupcake any day and I will be a happy girl!
Whilst browsing the brand new (and delicious) Dujour Magazine I came across this DIY tutorial on how to make paper flowers from cupcake wrappers. Soon I found myself daydreaming of cupcakes. But that's besides the point!
How perfect would these little flowers look on your reception tables, or even as a part of a hairpiece for your bridesmaids? If cupcakes are going to be making an appearance at your wedding, then why not enhance them with these whimsical little paper flowers?
Start with some pretty colored muffin cases. Here you see both a 4-case and 6-case flower. Find pretty cases at the supermarket, party shops or Etsy (Bake it Pretty, Cute Cups or Layer Cake Shop).

- Flatten the cases.
- Take the first case and fold it in half and then halve twice more and scrunch and fold again to form the center of the flower.
- Take the second muffin case (use another color or the reverse side of the same color) and line the center of the circle up with the pointed end of the core piece and scrunch it around.
- Continue doing, alternating colors until your flower is the size you desire.
- If you like, secure by wrapping some cotton around the base or alternately stitch a small button into the center - do whatever makes you happy!
- Hang it from the ceiling, use as a place setting or thread on some string to create a flower garland.
- Make a cup of tea and admire your handiwork. I personally recommend "A Day in Provence" by Tay!
