New York City Wedding Romance In the Times

NYC Romance In the New York Times

New York City is an international Mecca of finance, culture, fashion and entertainment. It's also known for bumper to bumper traffic, uncontrollable crowds and noise Brooklyn Workspollution.

That doesn't stop couples from dreaming up the ultimate romantic moments on those city streets. In fact, the contrast makes it all the sweeter.

Check out these 10 stories of love and romance in NYC reported in this New York Times article.

Of course, lovers find those iconic locations like the Empire State Building (a la movies like An Affair To Remember and Sleepless In Seattle) Central Park and Rockefeller Center. Then you've got an unusual marriage proposal in the Temple of Dendur just before closing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Love even strikes at the toll booth of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel.

What does this have to do with your wedding?

Ah, think outside the box to create opportunities for wedding romance.

Engagement and wedding photos in New York City are the big thing. Gritty urban chic meets I Love New York passion. There is nothing more stunning than a ravishing bride in her designer dress surrounding by the hustle and bustle of the city.

What if your wedding festivities and preparations won't include a visit to NYC?

A bride and groom on their wedding day in Bethesda Arcade in Central Park - Photo by Jodi MartorellTake a cue from the city's moonstruck lovers and add your own urban chic to your wedding day. I'd start with the architectural beauties on Water Street and Market Street in downtown Poughkeepsie, Kingston's historic Rondout or even the revitalized Liberty Street in Newburgh.

Make your own wedding history with a visit to your elementary school, the bar where you and your friends hung out, the movie theater where you shared your first kiss. Add a creative photographer and you've got totally unique and personal, hip, cool photos for your album.

There's nothing like an against all odds New York romance. It's like they say, "If you can make it there, you'll make it anywhere."

Got a city love story? Leave me a comment. I'd love to hear about it!
