Bobbi Sue & Travis Tellitocci July 24, 2010
Location: The Links at Union Vale
We had our July 24 wedding at the Links at Union Vale, a beautiful Irish golf course in LaGrangeville, NY.
The Links made Travis feel like he was back home in West Virginia with all the sprawling hills. The views were stunning.
Another deciding factor for us was that, Travis and I both live and work in Poughkeepsie. We go to the same places all the time for work events. For our wedding, we wanted to go somewhere that neither one of us had ever been for work!
We loved the Links at Union Vale and would recommend it to any bride and groom! Teri, Doreen, and the entire team at the Links took great care of us from day one.
The Links was the first phone call I made as a clueless and terrified bride-to-be! Teri talked me through everything that I needed to know
to set up my first visit. The Links was also very flexible with package options to accommodate our budget. The food and staff were awesome.
Because we were the only wedding that day we have the flexibility of choosing our own start and end time. But, the thing that I thought they did the best was allow us to personalize our wedding. We weren’t just another cookie-cutter wedding. They let us add personal touches throughout the day including things that resulted in extra work for their staff (like setting up a candy bar) and they did it all– with a smile and without any additional fees! Can’t beat that!
The Flowers: Green Oak Florist in Hyde Park
We worked with Dot and she was fantastic. In our first meeting with Dot, I was a bride on a mission. I knew everything I wanted and exactly how I wanted it. But, like most brides, I changed my mind three or four times before the wedding.
Dot was amazingly accommodating and eventually her expertise led me right back to all my original selections! I didn’t have a huge budget for flowers. So, I wanted the flowers that I had to really stand out. Dot selected beautiful and bright flowers to accent my pink and green wedding. Her prices were reasonable and I was very happy with what she put together.
Ceremony Music: Bardavon String Quartet
Our ceremony music was provided by the Bardavon String Quartet under the direction of Valentina Evans. They worked with our budget, cutting down to a trio rather than quartet. We also had a wonderful singer, Mary Kay Messenger.
We were very happy with the music for our ceremony. Valentina and Mary Kay worked with us and even allowed us to make special requests for our song selections. They played beautifully together and really enhanced our ceremony.
The Reception Music: The DJ Solution, Poughkeepsie NY
Going into the wedding, we felt that the DJ was the most important part of the reception. A DJ sets the tone for the celebration and we wanted someone that could keep the party going. We weren’t looking for all the traditional wedding reception events like a bouquet and garter toss. We also didn’t want a DJ that was going to be corny or overshadow us.
The DJ Solution was the perfect balance of everything we were looking for! Travis and I are very detail oriented and we made a number of special requests and dedications. We also wanted a special entrance compilation. The DJ Solution did everything we asked and so much more!
Our wedding reception was a non-stop dance party and everyone there (with guests ranging in age from 9 – 92) was dancing the entire night. We also loved being able to offer our guests the uniqueness of a live acoustic guitar during our cocktail hour. Overall, we loved our DJs and would recommend them to anyone!!
Photos: Blue Sky Photography
We can’t say enough about our wedding photographer, Steven Planck of Blue Sky Photography. The proof is in the pictures!
We truly enjoyed working with him. He listed to us and gave us everything we were expecting and so much more. Our photos are stunning! It is impossible to choose a favorite so it is a good thing that we have them all digitally. Our wedding package price was competitive compared to all the photographers we interviewed. Steve also offered us an amazing engagement photo shoot. We will absolutely cherish all these photos forever!

The Video: Joyful Video
Travis and I weren’t sold on hiring a videographer until we watched a sample video from a friend who was married the summer before us. After watching her video which beautifully captured each special moment of her wedding day, I knew I needed to do the same.
Working with Joyful Video was an absolute treat. Every package can be customized to fit your exact budget and the best part is you don’t have to make the final payment until the video is complete, so it is incredibly affordable to add a video to
your wedding budget.
I haven’t seen our video yet (it should be ready in Nov. or Dec.) but after seeing a few samples I know that we are going to be in for a real treat! I’m really looking forward to hearing our vows and the speeches from our best man and maid of honor. The night flew by so fast.
I know they caught so many special moments that I’ll be able to watch over and over again. Travis and I already have plans to watch our wedding video on our one-year anniversary and I hope each year that follows we will do the same!
The Accommodations: Hampton Inn and Suites, Poughkeepsie NY
We used the Hampton Inn and Suites on Rt. 9 in Poughkeepsie for the bridal party and all of our guests. This was a great location and beautiful hotel! We were able to block all the rooms we needed and accommodate all of our out-of-town guests. They had a great breakfast each morning, indoor pool, and conference rooms that could be rented/reserved for a hospitality suite. They were also great about handing out all our welcome bags!
The Colors: Hot Pink with Green Accents
Travis and I had a summer wedding so I wanted to do something that was really bright and energetic. I’ve had to wear blue, gray, or grayish blue in every wedding that I’ve been in and so I wanted something totally different!
We decided on hot pink with green accents. I am very happy with our color choices. I wore white and carried hot pink roses and wore hot pink shoes. My ladies wore hot pink chiffon and carried pink spray roses with green hydrangea and hipericum berries.
The boys looked handsome with classic black tuxes and a pink spray rose boutonniere. I think our color choices made for some beautiful photos but more
importantly, accurately represented our personalities.
Treating Out of Town Guests
Almost all of our guests were from out-of-town. I am from Massachusetts and Travis is from West Virginia. We wanted to make sure everyone had a wonderful time while they were away from home. We did this by offering some special amenities.
We offered transportation to and from our hotel so that our guests didn’t have to worry about finding the location. We also booked a conference room at the hotel which we converted to a hospitality suite throughout the weekend. We did this at no expense from the hotel because we had booked so many rooms through our hotel block.
I had my grandmother and aunt bake up some goodies and we also kept the room stocked with snacks, beer, wine, water and information about the wedding timeline and things to do in the area. My step-dad even made his famous “Jungle Juice”
which kept the party going long after we returned from the wedding reception. This room was a nice place for all the out-of-towners to hang before and after all the formal wedding events.
Remembering Family
We wanted to honor the members of our family who could not be with us on our wedding day because they had passed away or were not in a condition to travel. One way we did this was by showcasing wedding photos of our grandparents at our reception. Then we decided it would also be fun to include photos of our parents weddings.
Our guests enjoyed seeing those photos! We also referenced all those members of our family who couldn’t be with us during our intentions at our wedding ceremony.
Advice from Bobbi Sue & Travis
I’d highly suggest a photo frame over a guest book. A guest book is something you’ll put away and perhaps never look at again. We have our photo frame with guest messages hanging in our home
and I look at their beautiful messages each and every day!
Travis and I both agree there isn’t anything we would do differently! We put a great deal of thought and energy into planning for that specific reason. We didn’t want to have any regrets. We both plan events regularly as part of our jobs and decided that we had to make sure this event was our best ever.
Take some private time on your wedding day with your new husband or wife and enjoy the moment. Our photographer pulled us out onto the golf course for about a ½ hour during our reception to take some special photos of just the two of us.
That night when Travis and I were recapping the wedding we both agreed that the ½ hour where it was just the two of us taking photos was one of our favorite parts of the wedding because it was just us enjoying our special day.

This looks to have been a perfect wedding. With Steve as photographer, Dot at Green Oaks as florist, and Jeff and Stephanie doing the DJ duties... t couldn't miss. Nice work everyone!

Cheryl, thanks for the props. And I have to agree, it was an awesome wedding with all the right players involved. 'Course, I am biased...
However, it was ultimately the planning and thoughtfulness of Bobbi Sue and Travis that resulted in a slam dunk wedding.
This wedding definitely makes my "legendary" list!

Although I'm biased too, Bobbie Sue and Travis's wedding is one of my favorites from the entire year and so the obvious question becomes, how do I get all of my clients to be like Bobbie Sue and Travis? Anybody?
